Leading agency Ray White Rural is set to open its first livestock business in Tasmania with experienced stock agent Noel Hardstaff and Catherine Neville.
Ray White Livestock Devonport Tasmania offers a highly experienced alternative marketing offering to this livestock established industry.
Mr Hardstaff is well known in the north west of Tasmania for his top customer service and industry knowledge. He’s recognised as a font of knowledge for his contacts, particularly on the mainland.
Noel Hardstaff, a stock agent based in Devonport, has been in the industry for more than 40 years.
“No doubt about it, Tasmanian livestock is the best in the business. I have been sending local lambs and pigs to the mainland for years and I am very proud of the quality of our stock and it’s exciting to be opening up Ray White’s first livestock business in Tasmania. It’s a good time to start,” he said.
Mr Hardstaff first started in the industry in merchandising and then as a livestock manager. He’s been buying wholesale meat for years.
“I am heavily involved in the North West Community Market. This new market will be seen up and running for customers Tasmania-wide. It’s an exciting time.”
Director Catherine Neville will run the operations side of the business while Mr Hardstaff works with his customers. The pair met a few years ago on the dancefloor as rock’n’roll dancers.
“I have always been a country girl at heart but spent my working life as a court reporter for the Department of Justice and Attorney General. Noel and I met on the dance floor! We both love rock’n’roll dancing,” Ms Neville said.
The North West Community Market Association has set the date for the resumption of stock sales on the North‑West Coast of Tasmania. A decision was made to resume sheep and cattle sales at the Smithton saleyards on Monday, October 19. This will be a general stock sale with store cattle sales to be held on demand.
The Monday October 19 sale will start at 11am for presentations and for the auctioneering to start at 11:30am.
This will be for a six-month trial basis in conjunction with the owners of the saleyards and will be open to all licenced agents. All buyers will be required to register upon entry as well as meeting COVID‑19 requirements.
Ms Neville said there was a lot of interest from both buyers and sellers and are quietly confident of a successful outcome.
