Recognition of the longest serving female in Ray White Rural

By Laura Tacey

CONGRATULATIONS to Margaret Black, principal of Ray White Rural Atherton, who is celebrating her 20 year legacy in the Ray White Rural group.

Ms Black is the longest serving female member of Ray White Rural. She is well known for her impeccable reputation and real estate knowledge of the Tablelands region of far north Queensland which has seen her win numerous awards within the network and community.

“When I joined real estate I came from a background that revolved around routine. What a shock real estate was. I really struggled with this for a while as my planned day went out the door when I walked into work,” Ms Black said.

“But now some 20 years on, I still love that a day in real estate is so varied, even the best planned day rarely eventuates.

“Ray White does have a great support network and there is usually somewhere or someone to offer advice or help. Whatever you are experiencing, someone else has experienced it as well.”

Ms Black recalls one of her most memorable sales ventures in Tolga, Queensland selling the Rainforest Motor Inn. This was an interesting challenge which resulted in a local buyer and sold for $2.5m.

The second was Woodleigh College in Herberton, Queensland which was an empty boarding facility complete with commercial kitchen, dining room, hall, classrooms and dormitories. Ms Black took it to market as an expression of interest in which the property gained inquiries from across Australia selling to an interstate buyer.

Growing up Ms Black lived on cattle stations in North Qld, the Gulf Country, the NT and Sarawak in Malaysia. It’s easy to say she has an unbelievable understanding of rural lifestyle and property needs.

Ray White Rural Chairman, Paul White said Margaret Black started with Ray White Rural in 2000 and held many roles including office manager, property manager, auction specialist and sales consultant, before she purchased the Ray White Rural Atherton business in 2008.

“Her hard work and determination for her business and the Ray White brand awarded her the Significant Contribution Award in 2018. Margaret is a valued member of our Rural family, and myself and my family would like to thank her for her ongoing contribution.”
