Welcome Ray White Mudgee to the rural network

By Laura Tacey

MUDGEE locals Trent Robertson & Michelle Wilson are bringing their brand of small town business coupled with big agency capability to the Central West NSW town.

Backed by Australasia’s largest real estate group, the Ray White Mudgee office is set to open on August 17 with both Mr Robertson & Mrs Wilson taking the titles of Director.

Mr Robertson is originally from the Northern Beaches of Sydney but decided he needed a treechange 14 years ago and made the move to Mudgee. After leaving a career in finance, the small town adoptee began working in real estate the minute he arrived in Mudgee and hasn’t looked back. Michelle and her family, also originally from the Northern Beaches, moved to London for career opportunities and then followed the Robertsons tree change move nearly 10 years ago. Michelle has a marketing background and an avid photographer.

The family business feel of Ray White along with the group’s impressive network represented the perfect fit for the new Mudgee Directors.

“For me, what I am most impressed with is the network and scale of Ray White and that it’s a big agency but also a family business,” Mr Robertson said.

“The huge amount of support and resources that Ray White has to give that you can tap into is mind blowing.

“Ray White is a large network and you are able to bounce ideas around and I’ve been really impressed with how it operates – there have been so many people offering their support and have made the set up seamless.”

In regards to future goals, Mr Robertson said he loves the idea of growing but also wants to keep it very simple.

“It will be a small business made up of locals but buyers coming from interstate and Sydney will know and respect the Ray White name,” he said.

“Everyone talks about growth and market share and that is something I am focused on but my goal is to have a good reputation for doing clean business and be an agency that people enjoy dealing with, because in a country town, word of mouth is important.

“Being with Ray White will also position the office as a major player in the industry and having that small business, family orientated feel coupled with big agency capabilities will make it easier for the office to give clients the best service.”

Next to the Cudgegong River valley and north west of Sydney, Mudgee is home to more than 12,000 residents and is a popular tourist area famous for its wineries and countryside.

Mr Robertson said it’s also a growing country town with an expanding population and a diverse economy.

“It’s not just real estate in the area, there is the agriculture sector, tourism and mining and from that point of view we are really lucky,” he said.

Character style BnBs in the areas are also holding strong in the market and with the growing population Mr Robertson is seeing more subdivisions where people are building.

“The Mudgee real estate market is so diverse, you get units from $250,000 to $7 million large scale farms. You don’t just sell rural or just real estate, you have to be over the whole market because it’s so varied,” he said.

“From a stock point of view, during COVID-19, listings have been low but buyer demand hasn’t gone anywhere.

“A lot more people would be interested in selling if they knew where to move, they are standing on the pedals at the moment and waiting to see how things turn out.”

Ray White Rural and Livestock CEO Stephen Nell said we are humbled that Trent and Michelle have chosen to partner with the Ray White Group.

“It’s clear that we do share the same value proposition and we are looking forward to working with them to build the business that they aspire to have in that region,” Mr Nell said.
